Research: Music Genres

Within the wide world of music feature a long list of genres, different types of music, from psychedelic rock to neopunk. In order to decide on my own artists genre of music I have decided to look at my own music tastes and conclude which genre I am most passionate about. In order to look at this fairly I turned to my faithful iPod Nano and set it on shuffle, the following five songs came up first.

Michael Buble: I'm Your Man (Genre: Jazz/Big Band)



Ingrid Michaelson: Be OK (Genre: Acoustic/Ukulele)



K D Lang: Golden Slumbers (Genre: Classical/Relaxation)



Alex Day: Sicily (Genre: Acoustic Rock)



K T Tunstall: Under the Weather (Genre: Acoustic Rock)



Looking at my own personal taste shows me that the majority of music that my iPod decided to play when on shuffle, presents me with Acoustic Rock, a sub-genre of the large Rock genre. This sub-genre will be the music that my artist produces and will come across in the artists photo shoot. In my next post I will look at different acoustic rock artists and their photo shoots and gain ideas from those pictures to create my own rough idea of the front cover, contents page and the double page feature article in my magazine.
